Upcoming Workshops
June 19, 9 AM to Noon—Bicycle Commuting and Basic Bike Maintenance
Course Description:
Interested in commuting to work or running weekend errands on your bike?
Come join us for a bicycle commuting and maintenance intro. We will dive into topics related to commuting by bicycle and caring for your ride. We'll cover fixing-up an old bike or buying a new one, what to look for in a commuter bike, and necessary and unnecessary accessories. We'll talk about issues of safety and comfort such as what to wear, picking a route, most common mishaps to avoid, and adjusting your bike.
You'll also learn how to do your own preventive maintenance, change a flat tire (and why you should rarely need to do this), tune-up brakes,, and maintain your drive-train. Leave with a list of essentials to put in your tool kit and feeling ready for the road! The class will be partially outdoors in a covered garage.
No bicycle is necessary for the class, but you may bring your bike to practice the hands-on parts of the course on your own bike.
